Dinamika slang di era digital: studi sosiolinguistik tentang pengaruh aplikasi tiktok pada generasi alfa. Telusuri dinamika slang Generasi Alfa di era digital. Studi sosiolinguistik ini menganalisis pengaruh aplikasi TikTok terhadap penggunaan bahasa gaul dan Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Slang is a language that is often used among the Alpha generation which shows various different uses of language. The rise of social media can affect various groups such as children, teenagers, especially for the Alpha generation. This happens because parents often divert their attention to social media when they are young. This phenomenon is a concern about the erosion of the use of good and correct Indonesian. However, each use of language has its own characteristics in each language. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of forming various slang languages ​​among the Alpha generation on various social media. In this study, researchers used sociolinguistic studies to understand the dynamics of the use of Indonesian in the era of globalization. The approach used uses qualitative research methods and literature studies. A qualitative approach is used to obtain data sources from various information that supports our research. The data we use is the influence of the Tiktok application which aims to understand the viral phenomenon on the Tiktok application such as behavior, actions, and motivation by describing it in the form of words and sentences.

The reliance on "qualitative research methods and literature studies" alongside the aim to understand viral phenomena like "behavior, actions, and motivation" through "words and sentences" is somewhat vague. It is unclear *how* this qualitative data from TikTok is specifically gathered and analyzed beyond general literature review – for instance, whether content analysis, discourse analysis of comments, interviews, or observation of user-generated content are employed. A more precise articulation of the data collection and analytical framework is crucial for a robust sociolinguistic investigation into actual language use. Additionally, the initial premise regarding the "erosion of good and correct Indonesian" could benefit from a more neutral sociolinguistic stance that views language change as a natural process, rather than inherently negative. Despite these points for refinement, this study holds significant potential to contribute to our understanding of digital language and youth sociolinguistics. To maximize its impact, the authors should explicitly detail their qualitative methodologies, demonstrating how empirical data from TikTok is systematically collected and analyzed to support their claims about slang formation. The discussion should also engage critically with the tension between language 'erosion' and natural linguistic evolution, offering a nuanced perspective informed by sociolinguistic theory. A strong outcome would involve the identification of specific linguistic features, patterns, and social functions of Alpha generation slang, providing concrete evidence of TikTok's role in its development and dissemination.
