Development of student id cards and attendance system for al-kautsar islamic boarding school using qr codes integrated with google spreadsheet. Develop a QR code-integrated attendance system & student ID cards for Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School using Google Spreadsheet, automating recording & semester recaps.
Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School Mauk is an Islamic boarding school located in Mauk District, Banten. Currently, attendance for students and teachers is still done manually and there are no student ID cards. Therefore, it is necessary to create student ID cards integrated with Google Spreadsheet for attendance recording. This research uses the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) waterfall model, which includes Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, and Maintenance. The tools used in this development are QR Generator, Canva, Google Forms, and Google Spreadsheet. The research results in student ID cards equipped with QR Codes that can be scanned using a device, and the attendance will be directly recorded in Google Spreadsheet. The data from the Google Spreadsheet will then be used to recap student attendance every semester.
This paper, titled "Development of Student ID Cards and Attendance System for Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School Using QR Codes Integrated with Google Spreadsheet," addresses a pertinent and common challenge faced by educational institutions, particularly those operating with traditional administrative methods. The abstract clearly identifies the problem at Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School Mauk: a manual attendance system and the absence of formal student identification. The proposed solution, the development of QR code-enabled student ID cards integrated with Google Spreadsheet for automated attendance recording, offers a practical and accessible approach to modernize administrative processes, aiming to enhance efficiency and accuracy in data management. The methodology employed for this development is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Waterfall model, which provides a structured and sequential framework encompassing Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, and Maintenance. This traditional approach is well-suited for a project of this nature, ensuring systematic progression. The choice of development tools—QR Generator, Canva for ID card design, Google Forms for data input, and Google Spreadsheet for data storage and analysis—is highly commendable. These tools are widely available, cost-effective, and require relatively low technical expertise, making the solution sustainable and easily maintainable by the school's staff. The core technical integration relies on scanning QR codes to directly populate attendance data into a cloud-based spreadsheet, demonstrating a clever use of readily available technologies. The research successfully culminates in the creation of functional student ID cards embedded with QR codes, facilitating an automated attendance system that directly records student presence into Google Spreadsheet. This outcome directly addresses the initial problem statement by replacing manual processes with an efficient digital solution. The ability to automatically recap student attendance data every semester from the integrated spreadsheet is a significant benefit, reducing administrative workload and improving reporting accuracy. While the abstract focuses on the initial development and immediate benefits, this project serves as an excellent foundational step for future digital initiatives within the boarding school, demonstrating how simple yet effective technological interventions can significantly improve operational efficiency in educational settings.
