Abstract

Customer complaints about service delays and order arrivals at Asuka Restaurant indicate the need for a better system. The process of recording customer orders results in handling delays because orders are entered into the system one by one. This study aims to analyze and design a website-based ordering information system using a design thinking approach. The proposed system enables customers to place orders, make reservations, and complete payments more efficiently, while helping employees improve service performance and reduce paper use. This study applies the design thinking approach through five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. In the empathize stage, interviews were conducted to explore the needs of customers and employees. The definition stage then formulated the main problems and determined the system requirements. The ideate stage modeled the information system, from use case diagrams to databases, and developed prototypes. The prototype was tested to determine how the system functions by clicking on the user interface design that had been created. The black-box test results showed that all systems functioned as expected, namely, registration, login, ordering, reservations, menu management, order status, and payment. Meanwhile, the usability test results from the USE Questionnaire showed a score of 84.6%, indicating that the system meets the criteria of effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. This study concludes that applying the design thinking approach effectively creates digital solutions that meet user needs and support service quality improvement at Asuka Restaurant.
