Review

This study, titled "ANALISIS PEMASARAN CABAI RAWIT DI DESA BURANGA KECAMATAN AMPIBABO KABUPATEN PARIGI MOUTONG," addresses a pertinent topic in agricultural economics: the marketing analysis of cayenne pepper at the local level. The objectives are clearly articulated, aiming to understand distribution channels, marketing margins, farmer's share of revenue, and the effectiveness of distribution within the specified village. Investigating these aspects is crucial for identifying inefficiencies, empowering farmers, and potentially informing local agricultural policy, making the study relevant to rural development and food supply chain management. The research provides valuable quantitative insights into the local chili market. It successfully identifies two distinct distribution channels operating in Desa Buranga and quantifies the marketing margins associated with each, showing a higher margin in the second channel. Crucially, the study presents the farmer's share of the final price, indicating that farmers receive a significant percentage of the marketing outcome, albeit slightly lower in the second channel. Furthermore, it attempts to measure distribution effectiveness for both channels, offering specific figures that, despite their low values, provide a starting point for discussion on comparative performance. However, a significant limitation lies in the sample size for non-farmer respondents. While the census approach for farmers (28 individuals) is commendable, the inclusion of only one collector distributor, two retailers, and two consumers severely restricts the generalizability and robustness of the findings related to distribution profit, marketing margins, and overall effectiveness. The insights derived from such a small sample of intermediaries and end-users may not accurately represent the broader market dynamics or the complexities of their operational costs and pricing strategies. Future research would greatly benefit from expanding these respondent groups to strengthen the empirical basis and provide more representative conclusions regarding the profitability and efficiency of the entire marketing chain. Additionally, clarification on the calculation and interpretation of the low "tingkat keefektifan distribusi" percentages would enhance the understanding of this metric.
