Abstract

Review

This paper presents a timely and relevant evaluation of the Ngurah Rai University Flagship Information System (SUNARI), a crucial initiative aimed at modernizing student and academic data management. By applying the well-established DeLone and McLean Information System Success Model, the research endeavors to quantify the system's effectiveness from the perspective of its primary users: the students. The study's objective to assess SUNARI's success post-implementation is commendable, providing valuable feedback for the university to enhance its digital services and ensure that technological investments truly translate into improved service quality and operational efficiency. The chosen framework offers a structured approach to analyzing various dimensions of information system success. However, the methodological approach warrants closer examination. While the DeLone and McLean model is appropriate, the abstract notes the use of only five out of its six standard variables. The omission of "Service Quality," particularly in a system designed to enhance university services, represents a significant gap that could impact the comprehensiveness of the evaluation. Furthermore, the sampling strategy, selecting 100 students from a population of 11,975, while justified by the Slovin method, raises concerns regarding the representativeness and statistical power, especially for conducting path analysis. Path analysis, with its requirement for robust statistical inference, typically benefits from larger sample sizes to ensure reliable parameter estimates and generalizability of findings, which may be limited in this context. The findings offer valuable insights, indicating generally positive perceptions of SUNARI's system quality, information quality, user interest, user satisfaction, and net benefits. The path analysis successfully identifies key relationships, such as the influence of system and information quality on user interest and satisfaction, and how these, in turn, drive net benefits. The intriguing finding that user satisfaction influences user interest suggests a reinforcing loop, highlighting the importance of positive user experience in sustaining engagement. For future research, it is highly recommended to include the omitted "Service Quality" variable to provide a holistic success assessment. Additionally, expanding the sample size would strengthen the statistical validity and generalizability of the path analysis results. Exploring the identified causal relationships with qualitative methods could also provide deeper contextual understanding, enriching the quantitative findings.
