Introduction

Analisis kebutuhan pengembangan buku ajar mata kuliah kearifan lokal pandhalungan. Analisis kebutuhan buku ajar Kearifan Lokal Pandhalungan di Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Mengkaji karakteristik mahasiswa, persepsi, dan usulan 8 topik utama untuk buku ajar baru.

Abstract

Pandhalungan Local Wisdom is one of the courses offered by Muhammadiyah Jember University's Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. Learning in this course has various challenges due to its newness, one of which is the lack of textbooks. This study aims to conduct a needs assessment of the textbooks for the course. The goals are to describe the competency criteria, student characteristics, student evaluation against the course, and subject matter suggestions for the course textbook. The results show that the characteristics of students are: 1) the average age of 20–21 years, which is classified as young adults; 2) knowledge of Pandhalungan: high category 50.11%, medium 32.33%, and low 17.56%; 3) perception of the benefits of course learning: very important 32.44%, quite important 52.22%, less important 15.34%; and 4) learning motivation: high 69.13%, medium 21.85%, low 9.02%. It is also concluded that the recommended subject matter for this textbook is eight topics: 1). Pandhalungan Culture and Identity; 2). Pandhalungan Cultural History.) Pandhalungan Art and Cultural Expression; 4) Pandhalungan Traditions and Rituals 5) Pandhalungan Cultural Diversity 6) Changes and Dynamics of Pandhalungan Culture 7) Preservation of Pandhalungan Culture; and 8) Culture and Communication of Pandhalungan Society

This paper presents a timely and relevant needs analysis for the development of a textbook for the "Pandhalungan Local Wisdom" course at Muhammadiyah Jember University. The core problem addressed is the absence of dedicated teaching materials for this relatively new course, which poses significant challenges to effective learning. By focusing on competency criteria, student characteristics, their evaluation of the course, and subject matter suggestions, the study aims to lay a robust foundation for the creation of an appropriate and effective textbook, directly addressing a critical gap in the curriculum. Key findings indicate that the majority of students are young adults (20-21 years old) with varying, but generally high, levels of Pandhalungan knowledge and a strong perception of the course's importance and their motivation to learn. Crucially, the research culminated in a detailed recommendation of eight essential subject matter topics for the textbook. These topics, ranging from "Pandhalungan Culture and Identity" to "Preservation of Pandhalungan Culture," provide a comprehensive and structured framework for developing the instructional material. Overall, this research offers a valuable contribution by providing empirical data to guide the development of a specific educational resource. The detailed breakdown of student characteristics ensures that the textbook can be tailored to its target audience, while the explicit list of recommended subject matter directly informs content creation. This systematic approach to curriculum material development is commendable and will undoubtedly enhance the teaching and learning experience for the "Pandhalungan Local Wisdom" course, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of local cultural heritage.
