Abstract

This study examines the impact of Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests on social acceptance of racial justice principles in the United States. The protests became one of the largest social movements in modern American history, but normative analysis of their long-term influence on social structures and legal norms is limited. This study uses a normative qualitative method with a literature study approach, legal document analysis, and evaluation of secondary data from social media. The results of the study show that BLM protests have succeeded in raising public awareness of issues of racism, systemic discrimination, and the importance of social justice values. However, the level of social acceptance of anti-racism principles is still fragmented and influenced by people's social, economic, and political backgrounds. These findings underscore the importance of establishing more inclusive legal norms based on the value of racial equality as the foundation for sustainable social change in the United States.

Review

This paper tackles a highly relevant and critical topic: the long-term impact of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests on the social acceptance of racial justice principles within the United States. Acknowledging the monumental scale of the BLM movement, the authors correctly identify a gap in the normative analysis of its influence on social structures and legal norms. Utilizing a normative qualitative method, supported by literature review, legal document analysis, and secondary social media data, the study aims to elucidate how these protests have shaped public consciousness and societal receptiveness to anti-racism. The study presents a compelling two-fold finding: an undeniable success in raising public awareness regarding racism, systemic discrimination, and the broader importance of social justice values. However, it critically tempers this achievement by noting that the actual level of social acceptance of anti-racism principles remains fragmented, significantly influenced by individuals' social, economic, and political backgrounds. While the abstract outlines the methodological components, a more detailed explanation of how the "normative qualitative method" integrates legal document analysis and social media data would provide greater clarity on the study's analytical framework and robustness. Despite the brevity of the abstract, the findings offer a realistic and nuanced perspective on the complex nature of social change. The fragmentation of acceptance, despite heightened awareness, underscores the challenges in translating increased consciousness into widespread behavioral and attitudinal shifts. The authors' concluding emphasis on the necessity of establishing inclusive legal norms rooted in racial equality is a pertinent and actionable recommendation, aligning the study's findings with tangible policy implications for fostering sustainable social transformation in the United States.
