This paper presents an intriguing exploration into the universal human experience of heartbreak, its emotional manifestations, and the crucial role of self-management, as depicted within the Javanese literary classic, *Serat Panji Jayakusuma*. The research identifies a pertinent real-world problem: the potential for negative self-harm or suicidal tendencies when individuals fail to regulate emotions stemming from heartbreak. By anchoring this contemporary concern within an ancient text, the study proposes to uncover traditional wisdom regarding emotional responses and coping mechanisms, thereby offering a fresh perspective on a timeless psychological challenge. The stated aim to determine the forms of emotions and self-management advice found in the *Serat Panji Jayakusuma* is clear and relevant. The methodological approach, utilizing qualitative descriptive research alongside literary psychology theory, specifically Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, appears well-suited for a textual analysis of this nature. The application of psychoanalytic concepts to interpret character emotions and motivations within the narrative is a strong theoretical choice. The abstract's preliminary findings indicate that characters in *Serat Panji Jayakusuma* indeed exhibit pronounced negative emotions, such as depression and suicidal ideation, when faced with heartbreak, highlighting the text's psychological depth. Crucially, the abstract also points to the text containing advice for self-management, suggesting a practical dimension to this historical work. Overall, this research offers a valuable contribution by bridging literary analysis with contemporary psychological concerns. The unique application of Freudian theory to *Serat Panji Jayakusuma* to unearth insights into emotional distress and self-management in the context of heartbreak is commendable. While the claim of being entirely unprecedented should be carefully contextualized against broader studies of emotion in literature, the specific focus on this text for this purpose is indeed novel. The potential for the findings to serve as "inspiration for self-management and living a better life" underscores the practical relevance of this scholarly endeavor, making it a promising study for readers interested in both literary psychology and emotional well-being.
