Abstract

The Indonesian women's movement has a long history from pre-independence until today. Demands for equality in the eyes of the law and politics have been fought since pre-independence. The struggle carried out by Indonesian women aims to strive for equal rights that were fought for before independence until now. A review of women's movement studies not only provides an overview of women's struggles but also explains the representation of the women's movement in history. History shows that Indonesian women fought fervently for humanity and social justice. This study aims to provide an understanding of history as a foundation for the current women's movement in fighting for social and political rights. Therefore, Indonesian women leaders have set an example that today's women have the responsibility to continue this struggle.

Review

This study embarks on an ambitious and critically important topic: the historical involvement of Indonesian women in economic, social, political, and cultural spheres during the pre-independence period. The abstract effectively highlights the enduring legacy of the Indonesian women's movement, emphasizing its long history and continuous fight for equality from pre-independence to the present day. The stated aim to provide a historical foundation for the current women's movement underscores the contemporary relevance and potential impact of this research, offering valuable insights into the roots of ongoing struggles for social and political rights. This connection between historical precedent and present-day activism is a significant strength, positioning the study as a bridge between past and future advocacy. However, the abstract could benefit from greater specificity and a clearer delineation of the study's scope and methodology. While the title promises a broad examination of "women's history" across multiple domains, the abstract leans heavily towards the "women's movement" and the struggle for "equal rights." It is not entirely clear how the study will address women's involvement in economic, social, and cultural aspects beyond their direct participation in the organized movement for equality. The abstract also lacks any indication of the research methodology, types of sources, or specific historical periods or figures that will be central to the analysis, making it difficult to assess the depth and originality of the proposed research. Furthermore, the phrasing "A review of women's movement studies not only provides an overview..." introduces ambiguity regarding whether this paper itself is a literature review or an original historical study. To strengthen this work, the author should consider refining the abstract to more precisely articulate the study's primary contribution and approach. If the focus is indeed on the broader historical involvement of women beyond the organized movement, specific examples or a clearer framework for exploring their contributions in economic, social, and cultural life should be outlined. Conversely, if the core is the women's movement, this should be explicitly stated as the primary lens through which women's history in the pre-independence era is examined. Providing a glimpse into the methodology—whether it involves archival research, biographical studies, or a synthesis of existing scholarship—would also enhance the abstract's clarity and persuasiveness. This historical lens on Indonesian women's struggles remains an invaluable area of inquiry, deserving of a well-defined and rigorously executed study.
