Abstract

Review

The article "Visitando a Antropologia" proposes a timely and relevant re-examination of the foundational nature-culture dichotomy within Anthropology. Spanning the discipline's history from the 19th century to the present, the author aims to trace the evolution of this core concept. This chronological approach, as outlined in the abstract, suggests a comprehensive overview that could be highly valuable for both established scholars and students seeking to understand the historical trajectory and current complexities of anthropological thought. A particular strength of this proposed work lies in its ambitious integration of the "ontological turn" into this historical narrative. By linking this turn directly to the inclusion of previously marginalized or subjugated voices within anthropological discourse, the article promises a critical and nuanced understanding of disciplinary evolution. This perspective moves beyond a purely internal intellectual history, instead highlighting how shifts in theoretical frameworks are intrinsically connected to broader changes in who gets to define and articulate anthropological knowledge. The focus on how transformations in the nature-culture dichotomy reciprocally alter Anthropology itself, and the people theorizing it, positions this as a thought-provoking contribution to meta-anthropological reflection. The author's stated methodology of employing a specific "narrative matrix" to "visit" and recount the history of anthropological theory, drawing inspiration from Arendt, further signals a reflective and engaging approach. This promises an insightful and perhaps unconventional storytelling of the discipline's intellectual journey, offering fresh perspectives on persistent theoretical debates. Overall, "Visitando a Antropologia" appears to be a robust and critically aware project, poised to offer significant contributions by re-contextualizing a fundamental anthropological problem through an innovative lens, thereby enriching our understanding of both the discipline's past and its potential futures.
