This study focuses on the reclamation planning for an andesite mining site in Sidomulyo Village, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. Using the Quarry Sidehill method, the project spans 21.5 hectares of mining land with a six-year operational period (2025–2030). Reclamation activities include land arrangement, topsoil spreading, drainage, and revegetation with sengon and teak trees, as well as kalopo plants for cover crops. The total reclamation cost is estimated at IDR 2.113 billion, comprising land management and revegetation costs. This plan aims to restore land functionality and promote sustainable environmental stewardship while supporting government and industry initiatives.
This manuscript presents a focused technical reclamation plan for an andesite mining operation in Sidomulyo Village, Kulon Progo, D.I. Yogyakarta, a highly relevant topic given the environmental challenges associated with extractive industries. The study outlines a practical strategy for post-mining land restoration, covering 21.5 hectares over a six-year operational period (2025–2030) using the Quarry Sidehill method. This work makes a valuable contribution by addressing the imperative for responsible mining practices and planned post-mining land use, aligning with broader governmental and industry initiatives toward environmental sustainability in resource management. A significant strength of this work lies in its detailed and practical approach to reclamation planning. The abstract clearly delineates the proposed activities, including land arrangement, topsoil spreading, drainage, and specific revegetation efforts utilizing sengon, teak, and kalopo cover crops. The estimation of the total reclamation cost, approximately IDR 2.113 billion, provides a crucial financial dimension to the plan, which is essential for project budgeting and stakeholder engagement. The explicit timeframe and methodology (Quarry Sidehill) further enhance the specificity and credibility of the proposed interventions, indicating a well-considered operational framework aimed at restoring land functionality. While the abstract effectively outlines the technical components of the reclamation plan, there are areas that could be expanded for a more comprehensive analysis. The title explicitly mentions "Nilai Ekonomi" (Economic Value), yet the abstract primarily details reclamation costs without elaborating on the economic benefits or long-term value generated by these efforts (e.g., potential for agriculture, eco-tourism, timber production, or ecosystem services). A deeper justification for the selection of specific plant species, beyond their general utility, and an assessment of their resilience and suitability for the local ecological and climatic conditions would further strengthen the revegetation strategy. Additionally, a brief mention of the proposed monitoring and evaluation framework for the long-term success and effectiveness of these reclamation activities would significantly enhance the plan's robustness.
