This paper addresses a highly relevant and pressing issue in oncology nursing: managing sleep disturbances in chemotherapy patients. The abstract effectively highlights that chemotherapy often leads to significant physical and psychological impacts, with sleep pattern disruption being a common and debilitating side effect. The chosen intervention, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), is a well-established and evidence-based non-pharmacological approach, making its exploration as an independent nursing intervention for improving sleep quality highly pertinent. The study's alignment with Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI) and Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI) demonstrates a commendable commitment to structured, patient-centered care, aiming to empower nurses with effective strategies to enhance patient well-being. However, the methodological rigor of this "aplikasi" (application or implementation) is severely limited, significantly impacting the generalizability and reliability of its findings. The most glaring limitation is the extremely small sample size of only two patients, which is insufficient for any meaningful statistical analysis or inference. Furthermore, the intervention period—described as "1 hari dengan durasi terapi 30 menit" (1 day with 30 minutes of therapy)—is critically short for assessing a complex and often chronic issue like sleep disturbance in chemotherapy patients. While the PSQI instrument is appropriate for measuring sleep quality, a single pre- and post-intervention score after such a brief exposure to PMR does not provide sufficient evidence to conclude a lasting effect. The absence of a control group also makes it impossible to differentiate the effects of PMR from other confounding factors or the natural fluctuation of symptoms. While the reported decrease in PSQI scores (indicating improved sleep quality) for the individual cases presented is initially encouraging, these results must be interpreted with extreme caution due to the aforementioned methodological shortcomings. For this promising intervention to be validated and confidently integrated into broader clinical practice, future research must adopt a much more robust design. This would ideally include a larger, randomized controlled trial, a longer intervention period with multiple PMR sessions, sustained follow-up assessments over time, and the essential inclusion of a control group. Such a comprehensive and rigorous approach would provide the necessary evidence base to confidently recommend Progressive Muscle Relaxation as an effective independent nursing intervention for improving sleep quality in chemotherapy patients.
