This paper, titled "Narrar e escutar as histórias das vidas dos territórios," presents a timely and critical intervention into the discourse surrounding the climate emergency. It compellingly argues that traditional approaches, often marred by historical coloniality and racism, have systematically silenced the invaluable perspectives of indigenous and afrodescendant peoples. The core proposition is that these communities, through their inherent relational ontologies, possess a profound awareness of our ecodependence, and that the acts of narrating and listening to their stories of coexistence and communication with multi-species entities are essential tools for understanding and responding to present and future environmental challenges. A significant strength of this work lies in its interdisciplinary foundation, drawing insights from political ecology, social psychology, Latin American environmental philosophy, and the voices of indigenous authors themselves. This rich theoretical tapestry allows the paper to articulate how "narrar y escuchar" can illuminate the multi-species affective connections within territories threatened by extractivism and dispossession. By centering these practices, the paper not only highlights overlooked epistemologies but also proposes a pathway towards Donna Haraway's concept of "respons-habilidad"—a crucial framework for fostering accountable and collaborative action in the face of ecological crises. In conclusion, this paper offers a vital contribution to decolonial environmental thought and practice. It effectively underscores the urgency of decentralizing dominant narratives and actively engaging with the lived experiences and relational ontologies of marginalized communities. By championing narration and listening as potent tools for collective understanding and action, the work promises to inspire a more inclusive, empathetic, and ultimately effective approach to confronting the climate emergency, paving the way for a more just and sustainable future.
