Abstract

Review

This manuscript presents a relevant study on the implementation of community nursing interventions for hypertension management, a critical global health concern. The multi-faceted approach, combining health education, hypertension exercises, and the provision of tomato juice, addresses both knowledge and physiological parameters, which is commendable. The clear objective of describing the implementation and its impact on blood pressure and knowledge in hypertensive patients is well-articulated, highlighting the potential for practical application in community health programs. The study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design with 20 participants, which allowed for the measurement of changes within the group after the intervention. The reported results, showing a substantial increase in knowledge from 10% to 95% in the "good" category, alongside significant reductions in both systolic (20 mmHg) and diastolic (13 mmHg) blood pressure, are impressive and suggest a potent combined effect. However, the reliance solely on descriptive analysis, without inferential statistics, limits the strength of the conclusions regarding statistical significance. Furthermore, the short intervention duration (three 45-minute sessions) and the small sample size are notable methodological limitations that could affect the generalizability and robustness of the findings. While the study provides compelling preliminary evidence for the effectiveness of this community nursing intervention, several aspects could be strengthened in future research. The absence of a control group makes it challenging to definitively attribute the observed changes solely to the intervention, as other confounding factors cannot be ruled out. Future studies would greatly benefit from a more rigorous experimental design, such as a randomized controlled trial, with a larger sample size and longer follow-up period to assess sustained effects. Additionally, disaggregating the individual contributions of education, exercise, and tomato juice would provide deeper insights into the most impactful components. Despite these limitations, the paper offers valuable insights into a holistic approach to hypertension management and lays a foundation for further, more robust investigations.
