Review

The submitted manuscript, "EVALUASI SANITASI LINGKUNGAN DI PASAR OMBA KOMI KABUPATEN SUMBA BARAT DAYA," addresses a highly pertinent public health issue by evaluating the environmental sanitation conditions of Omba Komi Market in Southwest Sumba Regency. The research aims to determine the current state of sanitation and its compliance with healthy market standards, utilizing the robust framework provided by *Permen PU 12-2014*. This objective is crucial for ensuring public health and safety in communal spaces such as traditional markets, particularly in developing regions where such facilities are often central to community life and commerce. The study employs a purposive sampling technique, focusing on key sanitation aspects including clean water access, toilet facilities, waste management, drainage, and handwashing stations, aligning with the stipulated standards. The findings reveal a concerning situation where the market environment significantly falls short of expected sanitation benchmarks. Specifically, the research identifies critical deficiencies such as limited access to clean water, inconsistent water quality, inadequate sanitation facilities, ineffective waste management, problematic drainage systems, and a severe lack of handwashing facilities. These comprehensive observations collectively indicate that Omba Komi Market does not meet the healthy market standards set by *Permen PU 12-2014*. The methodology, combining documentation, observation, and questionnaires, appears appropriate for data collection, lending credibility to the identified issues. This research provides a vital diagnostic assessment, clearly highlighting an urgent need for intervention by local authorities to improve infrastructure and implement sustainable sanitation practices in the market. While the abstract effectively outlines the problems, a full review would benefit from more detailed insights into the specific extent of each deficiency and potential root causes. Future research could build upon these findings by proposing specific, actionable recommendations and evaluating the effectiveness of such interventions, thus contributing significantly to public health policy and practice in similar market environments.
