The paper titled "Analisis Tingkat Literasi Keuangan Mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta Tahun Angkatan 2012-2014" addresses a highly pertinent topic concerning the financial literacy levels among students. The primary objective, as clearly outlined in the abstract, is to describe the financial literacy of Economics Faculty students at UNY from the 2012-2014 cohorts. The study specifically focuses on key aspects including personal financial knowledge, savings, insurance, and investment. This research is commendable for targeting a crucial demographic – future professionals in economics – whose understanding of financial concepts directly impacts their personal well-being and potentially their professional roles. Methodologically, the study employs a descriptive survey approach, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data collection instrument, with descriptive statistics applied for analysis. The research targeted a population of 1,569 students from the specified cohorts, from which a sample was drawn using proportional random sampling, suggesting an effort towards representativeness. The key finding is quite stark: the financial literacy level among the surveyed students was determined to be 57%. This figure, when interpreted against Chen and Volpe's criteria, falls into the "low" category (<60%). This result is significant and raises important questions about the effectiveness of current educational frameworks in imparting essential financial knowledge, even within a faculty specializing in economics. While the study provides a clear snapshot of financial literacy within a specific student cohort, its descriptive nature inherently limits its ability to delve into the underlying causes of the observed low literacy levels or to propose specific causal interventions. A strength lies in its clear focus and application of a recognized classification for financial literacy. However, the abstract does not elaborate on the validation or reliability of the questionnaire used, which is critical for assessing the robustness of the 57% finding. This research serves as a valuable baseline, highlighting a potential gap in financial education. Future research could expand upon these findings by exploring the factors contributing to low financial literacy, comparing results across different faculties or universities, and investigating the effectiveness of various educational interventions aimed at improving financial literacy among students.
